Matt Katawicz

I help leaders turn what they’ve decided into what actually happens.

Chief of staff, strategy, consulting, customer success, and business operations.

I’m a chief of staff and operator with nine years across management consulting, business operations, and executive advisory. I’ve been at WorkBoard since 2019, first as a consultant, then building the partner delivery model, then as chief of staff to the CEO, and now as a Director of Professional Services and Customer Success, where I advise executive teams across more than thirty enterprises on how they set and govern their goals. One credited the work with reaching 110% of his annual goal three quarters into the year.

As a chief of staff, I owned the company’s OKR process end to end, designed the leadership team’s weekly and quarterly operating rhythms, led board and investor communications, and ran the Office of the CEO. We held 75 to 90% goal achievement every quarter, including through a workforce reduction and tightening economic conditions.

Before WorkBoard I spent two and a half years at Accenture delivering multi-year transformation programs for electric and gas utilities in the Pacific Northwest, where I built the reporting frameworks and workplans that kept a 150-person program on schedule and its leadership aligned.

I’m looking for my next chief of staff or operator role at an organization aligned to at least one of my focus areas: climate, LGBTQ+ advocacy, or aging and Alzheimer’s.

What I keep coming back to

Aging and Alzheimer’s

I’ve been with the Alzheimer’s Association since 2009. I’ve chaired the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in San Jose and in Washington, growing D.C. fundraising 33% to $867,000 and doubling San Jose’s to $1 million. I served on the board of the National Capital Area Chapter, and as a Congressional Ambassador I lead D.C. advocacy in Congress and at the City Council. NIH Alzheimer’s research funding has risen in every Congress since 2017, from $1.4 billion to $3.8 billion a year.

LGBTQ+ community

I founded WorkBoard’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group and built the governance framework the company’s other affinity groups later adopted.

I’ve been a spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ community in my work for the Alzheimer’s Association through advocacy, programming, and community outreach.

Climate

The newest of the three. I’ve spent the last few years working to move my full-time effort toward climate, through volunteer consulting and informational interviews across the industry. In 2024 I led a business development strategy project for a Northeast watershed conservation nonprofit with Seed Consulting Group, directing a volunteer team of four. Four of five recommendations were adopted.

I build things

I build software I want to exist. A personal CRM, because I wanted a better way to be thoughtful about my network, shipped first as a progressive web app and later ported to native iOS. A journaling app, also native iOS. Claude-based tools my team uses to automate reporting and routine work. This site, too.

Outside of that

I coach group strength training at MADabolic in Washington, D.C. It’s not that far from my day job, helping people safely but ambitiously rise above challenges.
